Personal filtration

Filter Straw

Get familiar with the compact black filter, its removable end fittings and tethered protective cap before the first water stop.

  1. Start with a water plan

Check the source and the treatment your trip requires. Clear-looking water can still need treatment. Carry an appropriate backup.

  2. Learn your exact model

Inspect the removable end fittings and any supplied tube. Follow your model’s instructions for assembly, orientation, preparation, cleaning and replacement. Confirm any reservoir connection separately.

  3. Protect the drinking end

Check for damage and keep the mouthpiece and tethered protective cap clean. Keep untreated water away from clean drinking surfaces.

Water to carry

1L Filter Bottle

A carrying bottle with a drinking assembly. Check the setup at home so the next refill feels familiar.

  1. Inspect the whole bottle

Check the flexible body, lid, drinking assembly and seals for visible damage. Make sure the parts supplied with your model are present.

  2. Follow the filling routine

Use your model’s instructions for filling, priming and drinking. Do not treat the bottle as suitable for every contaminant or water source.

  3. Check before packing

Check the closed setup for leaks using the supplied routine. Keep drinking surfaces clean and follow the model’s cleaning and storage instructions.

Basecamp storage

6L Gravity Bag

More storage for camp. The reservoir is one part of the setup; filtration requires a compatible separate filter.

  1. Check the reservoir

Inspect the seams, hanging strap, buckle, outlet and tube. Check for damage and leaks before you leave.

  2. Plan a stable position

Choose a stable hanging arrangement that follows the bag’s instructions. Keep the bag and tube away from sharp surfaces and dirty drinking outlets.

  3. Confirm the complete setup

For treatment, confirm a compatible separate filter, the required connectors and an appropriate receiving container. A straw or mixed set does not establish compatibility.
